LMLS Launches New Automated Patron Notification System
Lower Merion Library System Launches Automated Telephone Notification System
New Notification System Debuts
Posted Date: 11/4/2008 4:13 PM
Starting on Thursday, November 6, 2008, the Lower Merion Library System (LMLS) will begin using an automated telephone system to notify patrons about their library material. The automated telephone system, which is a product of Polaris Library Systems, will instantly notify patrons by telephone when an item which has been placed on reserve becomes available, and also when library material becomes overdue.
LMLS is implementing the system because it will reduce library costs associated with printing, stamping, and mailing invoices and bills, and will free up library staff time to handle other important library duties and services. The system will also enable patrons to save money by alerting them to overdue material as soon as possible before the fines accumulate.
LMLS also offers an email notification system for holds and overdue material. If you prefer to be notified by email instead of an automated phone call, then please make the change at the circulation desk of your nearest Lower Merion Library System library.
