SEPTEMBER 5, 2017 – One Book One Lower Merion proudly announces that Dr. Paul Offit’s Pandora’s Lab will be the Fall 2017 book.  This fascinating, highly readable book tells  amazing story of science gone wrong in ways that affect all our lives.

Our kick-off event will be a book review on Wednesday, November 1st at 1 pm at the Bala Cynwyd Library, located at the corner of Old Lancaster Road and Highland Avenue in Bala Cynwyd.  Bev Rosen, a terrific reviewer and insightful analyst, will lead what will certainly be a lively discussion.  Refreshments will be served.

Storybook hours for younger patrons  throughout November will feature Ada Twist, Scientist written by Andrea Beatty and illustrated by David Roberts to tie in to One Book.  Check with your local children’s librarian to get an exact date and time.

“Stories of Science Gone Wrong” is the title of a provocative panel on Sunday, November 12th in the Board Room of the Township building (75 East Lancaster Ave, Ardmore) at 2 pm.  Lower Merion’s own Superintendent of Police Michael McGrath will talk about how the opioid epidemic has affected Lower Merion;  Cathy D’Orazio, a certified nutritionist, will be talking about nutrition’s role in sports and diet; and Lankenau’s Dr. Mary Burke will be discussing changes in medicine and how they affect us.

Dr. Offit will be speaking in the Board Room of the Township building at 2 pm on Sunday, November 19th.  He is a gripping storyteller and we know it will be a great afternoon.  Also on tap will be a question and answer session, an opportunity to purchase the book and have Dr. Offit sign it and an array of delicious refreshments in the first floor rotunda after the talk.

No reservations are needed and there is no cost for any of the programs.

Please check lmls.org for any additions or changes.
