LMLS volunteers may assist with shelving and shelf order, mending of books and other library materials, data entry, gardening, or work on special projects such as an ESL conversation groups, ESL tutoring or ESL classes. Other opportunities may be available depending upon our libraries’ needs and your skills and interests. If you possess special skills or expertise that could enrich our library services, we encourage you to highlight them in your Volunteer Interest Form.
To ensure a seamless integration into our volunteer program, we seek individuals with a genuine interest in libraries and learning, as well as strong interpersonal skills to engage with patrons, staff, and fellow volunteers effectively.
We value professionalism and dedication in all our volunteers, and your willingness to make a specific time commitment is greatly appreciated.
Volunteers 14 years old and older are required to submit a current Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Records Check (SP4-164), and FBI Criminal Background Check prior to any volunteer work. Volunteers are eligible for free Child Abuse History Clearances and State Police Criminal Records Checks. Regular volunteers will be reimbursed the fingerprinting fee by the LMLS Director’s Office.
