As public-private partnerships, we rely on community members to help meet our annual operating needs through donations. While the township provides generous support for library staff and facilities, our volunteers and library boards raise nearly 90% of the annual funds needed to provide books, audio, and video materials and to offer vibrant programs – all available at no charge to all Lower Merion residents.

Cash donations are welcomed by all of our six libraries and the Lower Merion Library Foundation throughout the year. Gifts can be made online or by sending a check to the addresses listed above.
Lower Merion Library System invites you to honor an event, an achievement, or the memory of someone special. If requested, a notification of your gift will be sent to a family or individual. The libraries may also offer special forms of recognition, such as book dedications. Please contact your local library for more information.
When making a gift, check to see if your employer offers a matching gift program. Matching gifts are a type of corporate giving program that essentially doubles an employee’s initial donation to an eligible nonprofit organization.
The Lower Merion Library Foundation is an eligible Education Improvement Organization for businesses that participate in the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit program. In addition, corporate sponsorship gifts are also welcome for special events and fundraising activities.
Gifts of appreciated stock, held for more than a year, are a tax-advantaged way to help support
the libraries. You may download the information sheet below or contact the Lower Merion Foundation for information on how to make a gift of securities at foundation@lmls.org.
Donors over 70 ½ can make Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA to the Lower Merion Library Foundation in support of system-wide programs or a designated library. A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity. QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year and excludes the amount donated from taxable income. Check with your tax advisor to see if this strategy is right for you.
A gift through your will or living trust can continue your support for our libraries for the next generation. Your estate attorney, accountant, or other financial advisor can provide you with more details on the types of gifts.
For more information on making a gift, please contact your local Lower Merion library or the
Lower Merion Library Foundation at foundation@lmls.org or by calling 610-645-6110.
